  • A few steps from the Grenoble area, this walk with a small and constant difference in altitude is accessible to all and offers an alternation of nice landscapes as well as views on the Néron and the Grenoble area.

  • From the parking of the pass of Vence (alt. 780 m), go back down on the road towards Grenoble for a hundred meters, on the right side of the road, and at the sign of the hike La Chapelle, turn right towards the mount
Rachais. You follow for the moment the white and red markings of the GR 9. From La Chapelle, you go up for about 200 m on a small tarred road, then continue by the Chemin des Batteries on a wide track.

Go up this way without stopping until the crossing of the sheepfold (alt. 900 m). Here you leave the GR and its markings to take on the right, direction Mont Rachais by the crests. It is a yellow marking that you follow
from then on. At the T-junction Les Granges (alt. 1,010 m), fork to the left to find yourself under wooded hedges bordered by meadows. After a very small climb, turn left again, heading south. The
The path slaloms through pastures and joins a ridge in the undergrowth. The trail then heads downhill to Sous-le-Mont (alt. 975 m) and its intersection. Continue straight ahead to go back up to Mont Rachais. From the top of Mont Rachais (alt. 1046 m), continue on the ridge always towards the south to start your descent. After about 400 m, the path leaves the ridge and plunges to the left on the Grésivaudan side. You will find again, a little bit further down, a flatter path, the GR 9. Turn left (be careful, no directional signs) to reach the sheepfold by following the white and red markings again. At the sheepfold (alt. 900 m), you just have to take on the right the path you took the other way up, to go back to the Vence pass (alt. 780 m).
