Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
Starting from Plan de Ville in front of the Saint Pierre de Chartreuse Tourist Office, you begin by crossing the square to find the Bois des Lièvres trail on the right for a narrow initial descent.
Next, you will cross a footbridge over the Couzon before continuing your adventure through an alpine pasture to reach the road.
At the Patassière signpost, continue to the right, uphill. At the next intersection, take the road to the left, which climbs steeply.
Then, follow the path slightly to the left of the road to reach the Orchid Trail on the right.
Be sure to stay on the trail to protect this unique path. During the blooming season, you can enjoy the informational signs placed near the flowers. Upon entering the hamlet of La Coche, continue on the road before taking the path on your left at the La Coche signpost.
The trail then runs along the Couzon in the shade of the forest.
At the "Sentier du Col de Aures" signpost (the next yellow post), take the path to the right towards Champ Massot.
You will rejoin the road, which you will cross to continue on the trail to the left in front of you. You pass just below the start of the Combe de l’Ours chairlift and follow the ski slope in reverse before finding a narrower path on your right to reach Battour.
At the La Cochatière signpost, continue to the left on the road briefly, then join the descending trail a little further up on the left.
You are now on a wide path that descends to the hamlet of Le Mollard. Once you reach the area under the cable car lines, turn left and follow the vertical kilometer downhill to the Chapelle du Rosaire, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding peaks near Saint Pierre de Chartreuse.
Then, climb slightly towards the Sentier des Amoureux. This section is a bit more technical, so be cautious in case of rain. The descent continues until you reach the Perquelin road, where you'll turn right to return to the village. You will pass Raidlight Vertical and the town hall, then take the path in front of you along the fountain, leading you back to Plan de Ville.
