Description
Nordic ski touring is a leisure discipline in the Nordic ski family. This activity is practiced in a natural environment on ungroomed snow and gentle slopes. It's the perfect way to get around off-piste areas.
Nordic touring skis are slightly wider and less arched than classic cross-country skis, but narrower than alpine or touring skis. They have edges, but their sole is equipped with anti-reverse scales; sealskins can be added if necessary. Their bindings leave the heel free, like those on cross-country or telemark skis. Waterproof, high-fitting boots allow the foot to flex.
Technique: Be able to snowplough on groomed runs.
Physical requirements: 400 m ascent with a 20-30 liter rucksack.
Equipment: 30-liter rucksack, gloves, hat, goggles, drink and snacks. Take hiking clothes with a spare polo shirt and rain or wet snow protection.
