Description

A very pleasant walk in a mountain setting. From the rock, the panorama opens up onto the surrounding villages and peaks, including the Grande Sure. An unusual geological feature: the rock base you are walking on comes from the Jura!

Park along the road between the football stadium and the pumping station. Other parking spaces are also available near the old tile factory. Continue along the road to the St Robert junction (1), follow La Garde uphill along the path. The path joins the road; turn left after the Bourderie basin at the ‘Chemin de Leygaz’ sign. Follow the path, on the tarmac section, turn left at the top of the intersection and continue uphill along the road. At the Rousset basin (2), follow Rocher de la Garde (yellow markings). At Chargeoir de la Bourderie, follow La Garde. At the ‘La Garde’ signpost, follow Rocher de la Garde. Take care when crossing the lapiaz area and then at the top, as the cliff is just behind the cross. From the top, descend to the Sous le Rocher crossroads, then turn right towards Au-dessus des Gorges (3). At the crossroads above the gorges, turn left towards Gorges de Crossey (4). At the crossroads of the cloches de Rome (5), follow St-Joseph-de-Rivière. At the Bois de la Garde (6), join the Bassin de Rousset (yellow markings) and return to the starting point via La Bourderie.
