Description

This route winds its way between the two churches of St-Pierre-d'Entremont before slipping into the Cozon valley. It follows an ancient path, a haven of greenery and coolness, perfect for family walks on hot summer days.
Immerse yourself in the refreshing embrace of the Chartreuse forest during this bucolic stroll. Begin your journey by following the Path of the Mules, enveloped by majestic trees. An essential stop awaits you at the "Pont du Lac," where in summer, the charming outdoor restaurant "La Pêche à la Truite" invites you to refresh and rejuvenate. Then, continue your path by taking a small road to the hamlet of Courriers before finding a scenic forest trail again. Your hike concludes beautifully at the delightful hamlet of La Fracette before returning to St Pierre d'Entremont via a peaceful and lightly trafficked road.
  • Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
1/ From the tourist office in Saint-Pierre-d'Entremont, follow the signposted route: Le pont du lac par le Chemin des mules (yellow sign at the corner of the tourist office). Continue along the road, crossing the point on the Guiers Vif. 50 m after the bridge, at a small fountain, turn right. 2/ Pass the chapel of the 10,000 martyrs, of which only the façade remains, and leave the tarmac road to follow the Chemin des Mules (red and yellow markings) to the left. The path continues through the forest, skirting a few pastures before descending to the small hamlet of Chez Joubert. Climb up to a vast meadow with a typical Cartusian barn. At the La Combe sign, take the left-hand path towards Pont du Lac. Cross a small bridge and join the main road. Turn right and climb about 100m to the trout-fishing restaurant. 3/ Take the road up on the left to the hamlet of Les Courriers (yellow markings). At the entrance to the hamlet, between the pond and the bread oven, turn left. A narrow path leads to the hamlet of La Fracette. Burnt down in 1870, then rebuilt by the Carthusian monks using tiles made in Saint-Même, it has retained its traditional character, in the Cartusian style. 4/ On the plateau, at the last houses, take the road to the right to find the banks of the Cozon after two hairpins, which you follow to the village. At the entrance to St Pierre d'Entremont, take the bridge on the left which crosses the Cozon, then turn right to reach the village center.
